Tesla transformed Grok from an in-car chatbot to a hands-free work assistant. On September 22, Tesla officially launched the Grok Bot feature, confirming that drivers can now manage emails, calendars, files, chats and tasks via voice and then hand more ambitious errands to the AI-powered productivity cheat code.
Grok himself is built by xAI. The features of the new car are divided into two levels: Connectors connect Grok to external accounts. Grok Bot, currently limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, can complete multi-step tasks such as placing a regular coffee order, making a reservation, or scheduling an appointment. It really puts the driver in an almost completely hands-free driving and productivity environment, and ironically the only task that really requires your hands is tapping the “Start Self-Driving” button.
We were granted access to Grok Bot’s Tesla integration a few weeks ago and have been able to do a handful of things with it. On a handful of occasions, we’ve used it to order food and have it ready for pickup a little later in the evening; we were able to get groceries after a day of running errands with Grok Bot, and out of the car, he helped me with budgeting and even my fantasy football project.
We’ve been using @Grok Bot at Tesla for a few weeks after getting early access, for which we thank the amazing engineers
Grok Bot makes things much easier for your entire life. From Tesla, I used it to place pickup orders for me and my fiancée, we ordered groceries…

Tesla shows another way to use it: In the demo, a driver says “Hey Grok,” asks the assistant to check an inbox, and hears a message about a weekend reservation. Grok then scans the calendar, reports no conflicts, and confirms that the trip to Tahoe is clear. It can also add check-in details to a travel itinerary. The point is not the chat about the news. It’s keeping an eye on the road, or Full Self-Driving, while the car takes care of the paperwork of a trip:

This Grok launch isn’t so much an add-on gadget as Tesla’s thesis in software form: The car should stop being a machine you operate and start being a room you occupy.
Connectors and Grok Bot treat the cabin like an office that moves, and that’s really been Tesla’s intention for years now. The car slowly became an extension of the home rather than a vehicle. Inbox, calendar, grocery shopping, takeout, and reservations become voice work, not dashboard chores you have to do before getting in the car.
Responsibility shifts from the driver to the manager, and since many Tesla owners rely on FSD for travel, Grok Bot now handles the monotony of reservations or dinner dates.
